Whitney the Worker Bee takes you inside the world of a seemingly small and insignificant worker bee, Whitney, who dreams of seeing the world. Children are transported from country to county as Whitney takes a risk and leaves her familiar surroundings to explore the world. This book is delightful, vibrant, and teaches children, both young and old, to take risks in order to make their dreams come true. ~ Samala Carrington

Whitney the Wishful Worker Bee Wanders the Big Wide World edition by A A Samuels Children eBooks

I read Whitney the Wishful Worker Bee Wanders the Big Wide World to my three school aged (9, 8, and 5) children. My rising Kindergartener LOVED it. The illustrations were vibrant. I loved the message never to give up your dream was the theme of the story, the second theme was the love of travel.
Whitney the Wishful Worker Bee is about Whitney a normal average ordinary bee who has a dream. Her dream is to travel the world. All of her friends and family tell her she should not listen to her dream. But Whitney does not listen and follows her heart. She goes to Dubai, Paris, New York, Italy, Egypt, St Lucia, Peru, London, Pensacola, and Nova Scotia. She pursued her dream, until she realized she was homesick and came back home.
My son who is a rising 4th grader felt it was a little to young for him. My rising third grader liked it.
Based on their reaction, I would recommend it for the lower school aged child.

Whitney the Wishful Worker Bee Wanders the Big Wide World edition by A A Samuels Children eBooks Reviews

I so loved this book. I think that this book teaches kids not to let anyone's opinions hold them back from what they want to do. It also teaches kids about different countries. Whitney pursued her dream and in the end wound up very happy. I enjoyed reading this book and being on Whitney's adventure along with her.
In school, my 4 year old is learning the continents and with our own travel she's really beginning to have an interest and better understanding of different places. I was very interested in reading Whitney the Wishful Worker Bee with her to further encourage and begin to expand her knowledge of the "Big Wide World."

The book takes children around the world as Whitney visits countries like France, Italy, and Egypt. As a parent what I really appreciated was Whitney's determination to see the world and follow her dream. A message I want to instill in my child as she gets older.

My daughter absolutely loves to read and be read to. The illustrations in the book are beautiful and the vibrant colors in the pictures really kept her interest.
This book is full of vibrant, eye-catching illustrations that will get your readers, no matter how young, interested. Not only is it visually appealing, but it appeals to the ears as well with it's alliteration of "W" words. There are some beginner words as well as repetitive words that will help early readers practice their reading skills as well as some more complicated words to enrich your child's vocabulary.

On face value, it's a story of following your dreams, spreading your wings (literally) and travelling; introducing your kids to the bigger, wider world. On a deeper level it's about not complying with social expectations, and being independent and unique even in the face of peer pressure. It's also a story of taking chances, and living life.

My third grader (7 years old) enjoyed this book very much. It would suggest it for elementary-aged kids and younger.
